Week 6 recap

So my weigh in days are Mondays. Not exactly by choice, it's just how it happened. At my 6 week weigh in (last Monday, Sept. 26th) I weighed 219 lbs. I am down a total of 15.8lbs. I'm also down 3 sizes... Those 'fat pants' that I had bought a while ago were a size 20. (They were on size 18 hangers in the store, so imagine my shock and disgust when I got home and noticed they were actually size 20) Those are LONG gone. I'm now wearing 14/16. I have 1 pair of 14 jeans that fit. A few others I can get on but I wouldn't exactly say they fit. Unless breathing is optional, which it's not. I decided to start taking weekly pictures for before and afters... Here's my week 6 picture, on weigh in day.

And here's a split screen with my "Before" photo...

I can't see a huge difference other than in my chest and my face. But the pant sizes decreasing must mean I'm losing in the waist/hips/bum too. :)

My plan...

So... what am I doing to lose the weight? I've done weight watchers and I do think it TOTALLY works. BUT I don't want to count points for the rest of my life. I want to understand nutritional labels I want to know where I should be for calories. I also don't want to live in a world of "light and fat free"... After Pumpkin was born we (my husband and I) decided that we would feed her everything organic, that we could afford... I then discovered clean eating. Basically avoid preservatives and fake stuff. Make it fresh at home or buy only things that you can actually read and understand in the ingredients list. Sure something light will help with weight loss, but I'm looking at forever here. Not a quick fix. I've tried the quick fix... I'm looking for a permanent fix.

So first things first. I NEEDED to exercise. I thought, I should start with something fun. I decided to get the Biggest Loser Challenge for the Wii. Ok... seriously... this KICKED MY BUTT. I remember being SO gung ho that very first work out only to feel like I was going to DIE. I was screaming at the tv. At Mr. Bob Harper who was sarcastically asking me if I was "really" doing it. HELL YES... I drenched myself in sweat. I fogged my glasses up. And when it was all done I had the most satisfying feeling EVER. On the packaging of the game it had a link to http://www.biggestloserclub.com offering 1 free month. I figured I should check it out and see if there was a meal plan to follow. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Basically track your foods. Stay within a specific, calorie, carb, fat, dietary fiber and sodium range. Get so many fruits and veggies... and lean proteins and dairy. My first week I lost 5lbs! I was excited. Ever since then I have had steady weight loss with VISIBLE inches lost. Not only that. I started where I could do 3 push ups on knees. I'm now at 22!

Before

Here are my starting stats...

234.8 lbs

Here's a picture from the week before I decided enough was enough...

I was still nursing, so that might excuse the big boobs... but the rest is pure fat!

My first post!

And so it begins... I'm blogging. I never ever ever EVER thought I'd be blogging a weight loss blog. I also never thought I'd weigh 80lbs overweight. Never say never, right? Here's the long winded version of me... if you want the Cole's notes, read to your left.

Basically this can all go back to 1998. The year I graduated high school. I went off to university and gained the oh so famous freshmen 10-15-20lbs. I tried losing it through the summers only to put on an extra 5 or 10lbs the following year.

In 2003 I got engaged. My "fiance" and I started living together and I just kept gaining. I remember oh so well, joining Weight watchers in April 2004. I had no idea what my weight would be. I stepped on the scale my first day there, I weighed 199lbs. I was mortified. I remember crying saying NEVER again. We got married October 2, 2004 and I weighed 177 lbs, 22lbs over my goal weight. I guess I could say it was all downhill from there. I gained quite a few pounds the next few years. Some during our first year of marriage, then even more the next few years. We had been trying to get pregnant... and that was such an emotional rollercoaster that I did turn to food. My husband and I would love to go out. Or we (I) would get lazy, and not feel like cooking. In the meantime I was ballooning!

I got pregnant in June 2007. I tried really hard to watch my weight gain, but put a fair amount on at the end of the pregnancy. I believe while pregnant I tipped the scale at 255lbs. My little Pumpkin was born in February 2008. I remember coming home from the hospital weighing 230lbs. After the first week I got down to about 222lbs and then struggled with the remaining weight. The lowest I got was 205lbs. I then found out I was pregnant with my son, in June 2010. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and took that as a serious wake up call. I took it as a serious warning and the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy I was extremely careful with what I ate. All the same, I topped the scale at 245lbs. I remember coming home from the hospital in February 2011 excited to weigh myself. I had lost 25lbs after my daughter was born, so how much did I lose this time??? I was mortified when I stepped on the scale. 237.4lbs I lost my sons birth weight! Upset and stressed out and happy to have things I couldn't have when pregnant with gestational diabetes, I let myself go. I had what I wanted, when I wanted. My weight fluctuated between 237 and 225 for the next few months.

My weight was beginning to really bother me. I had to go out and buy new 'fat' pants because my fat pants wouldn't button and I REFUSED to wear my maternity pants any longer. I woke up one August morning and I had had enough. I was done feeling like a victim of weight gain. I was done making excuses. I was done being fat. That was just over 6 weeks ago. I have not looked back.
